Coaching Staff

Varsity Coach: Eric MacKinnon

Coach MacKinnon is entering his 2nd season as the Head Coach at CHS. MacKinnon graduated from Oliver Ames in 2011, where he was a Hockomock League All Star and captain on a Davenport Championship squad. He went on to play collegiately at Salve Regina University, where he became a four-year letter winner with the Seahawks, appearing in 87 career games while serving as a captain his senior year. Upon graduation in 2015, he was hired as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at NCAA DII Franklin Pierce University. During his 5 years at FPU (2015-2020), MacKinnon was responsible for a wide range of tasks including recruiting, player development, budget management, and game planning. An active basketball official, he is also a Director for the Boston Celtics Camps. MacKinnon received his Master’s in Sports & Recreation from Franklin Pierce in 2017 and is now a Wellness Teacher at Galvin Middle School in Canton.

JV/Asst. Varsity Coach: Mike Rector

Coach Rector is entering his 1st season with Canton as the Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity Coach. Rector is currently a Physical Education & Health Teacher in Brockton. Most recently, Coach Rector was an Assistant Varsity Coach for the Boys Basketball Team at Oliver Ames. Coach Rector also has coaching experience at Walpole High School and New Heights Charter School. Rector is a 2015 graduate of Bridgewater State where he was a member of the Men's Basketball Team.



Assistant Coach: Pat Dinneen

Coach Dinneen is entering his 2nd season as an Assistant Coach with the Bulldogs. Dinneen, a Medfield native, graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in 2010 where he was a Captain and two-time Catholic Conference All-Star. Dinneen went on to play at Salve Regina University where he had a decorated career scoring 1,198 career points. Dinneen also holds the record for most games played (113), is 3rd all-time in free-throws made, and 6th all-time in steals. Dinneen led the Seahawks to an NCAA tournament appearance in '11 and was a league all-star as a senior. Coach Dinneen currently works in finance at State Street Corp.

Freshmen Coach: Ato Botsio

Coach Botsio is entering his 4th season as the Freshmen Coach at his alma mater. Botsio was a standout player at CHS (class of '14) and was named to the All Half Decade Team. Coach Botsio went on to play collegiately at Newbury College where he was a captain and graduated with a degree in accounting and administration in 2018. Coach B is a Boston native and currently serves as the Head Coach for the 9th grade travel elite team at Dana Barros Basketball Club.
